One meal that has been difficult for us to find that we both like is a chili recipe! Last fall I found this one and we both love it! I just love when fall rolls around and I can break out my crockpot and know that supper will be ready when I get home.
Not to mention how amazing your house smells when you walk in the door!
This recipe is super simple and more importantly, husband approved. We try to do our best and not eat too much red meat. Does that mean we don’t ever eat it? Absolutely not. But we try to add it alternatives when possible. This one is great because the recipe calls for turkey. I have always grown up on chili with hamburger meat in it. I still love my mom’s recipe the best 🙂 I’ll leave that one for another post.
So what ingredients do you need?
- 1 lb ground turkey
- 1 small onion, chopped
- 1 (28 oz) can diced tomatoes
- 1 (16 oz) can tomato sauce
- 1 (4.5 oz) can chopped chilies, drained
- 1 (15 oz) can chickpeas, undrained
- 1 (15.5 oz) can black beans, undrained
- 1 (15.5 oz) can small red beans, undrained
- 2 tbsp chili powder
Brown turkey and onion in a medium skillet over medium high heat until cooked through.
Drain any fat remaining and transfer to your crockpot. Add the beans, chilies, chickpeas tomatoes, tomato sauce and chili powder mixing well.
Cook on high 6-8 hours and enjoy!
You can always add cheese, sour cream, or crackers as your toppings to make it your own! I personally love making a petro.
I found this recipe from Skinny Taste! Lots of yummy recipes are on that website if you have not checked it out.
